Conscious Presence is the Key

27 May 2018

The whole Universe is undergoing a spiritual transformation to something else – a new consciousness. A process of evolution is happening. We are all connected to the one timeless consciousness that is evolving and that is why all of us are being challenged. Every challenge is an opportunity to become present and to grow. If you refuse to change yourself or gain any new understandings, those challenges will become greater and greater until you do transform. Challenges are all about our transformation.

Conscious presence is the opposite of our old way of being, our unconscious self in a hypnotised state ruled by the ego mind. The most important thing for you to learn in this lifetime is presence. Why? Because:

  • In presence, you become aware
  • In presence you create a spaciousness to what is happening around you and within you
  • In presence you realise that you have the power to change your response to situations
  • In presence, you have healing power for yourself and others
  • In presence, you have access to the Superconscious, which gives divine inspiration and holds the answer to every problem
  • In presence, you can expand in love and let go of fear
  • In presence, you have the power to transform yourself, your relationships and your life.

If we’re not present, we’re either dwelling on the past or thinking about the future, which means we are bringing either past or future into now. This cancels out the now!  You can’t be present AND in the past or in the future. The now is all we have. When we’re fully in the now, we have access to all that we need.

Negative Life Patterns

Negative life patterns create our negative reality. We keep re-creating the past because we’re thinking about it or not letting it go. The past is literally trapped in our energy field and re-creating itself over and over again.

I can do forensic healing to look for the traumas, beliefs and thoughts underlying this pattern and bring it to one’s awareness and perform energy work to release it, but the work doesn’t finish there, because the Universe likes to test us until the pattern has dissolved. The only way a person will ever truly heal a negative pattern is through presence and awareness. Without being in the now and being conscious of what is happening right now, and creating space to observe what is happening and choose a different response, the pattern will remain.

Staying present and conscious when an old wound is being triggered isn’t easy. Most of us automatically go unconscious and play out our old way of being, and that’s what keeps the pattern in place. It takes the ability to stay present and aware when we’re being triggered to let go of an old way of being. In presence, we bring a spacious awareness. No significant shift can happen in our life without presence.

A good way to stay present when you’re being triggered is to breathe as soon as you catch yourself in the triggered state. Breathe in and out deeply and say to yourself SPACE – allowing a space between the trigger and the reaction. Then you can choose to RESPOND and not REACT.

Why do we get challenges?

The Universal intelligence builds disruption into everybody’s life to pull us out of our ego mind. When we only have ego identity, we will be pulled into unconsciousness very easily. It is often through loss, illness or anything that diminishes the ego that we awaken into presence. When life is comfortable, there is no need for presence and awareness. Be thankful for being upset. This is your opportunity to practise presence and recognise any mental/emotional resistance. With any disturbance, make it your aim to surrender and choose peace.

It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, there lies your treasure –  Joseph Campbell

No matter what is happening, think “nothing disturbs me”. Breathe through it, choose to be serene and to trust.

How can we trust when things feel hopeless?

We must remember that everything that is happening in our lives is happening for a reason, and on a soul level we chose it for our growth and evolution. We cannot transform into something higher without being challenged.

The ego mind feels intrinsically unsafe because it feels alone and disconnected. It feels it has to control, and manage outcomes, but this is not the truth. The truth is that we are divinely looked after if we choose to surrender and trust in the Divine Source. it will carry us to where we need to be, and where we need to go.

We must let go of the life we planned, so as to accept the life that is waiting for us – Joseph Campbell.

The over-thinking ego mind

The thinking (conceptual) ego mind has taken over and we are over-thinking. For every person who comes to me for healing , their greatest enemy isn’t “out there” – it’s their ego mind. You can be sure that if you have a busy, over-thinking ego mind you will be ungrounded and you’ll probably also suffer from anxiety to some extent. The thinking ego mind creates our misery!

We can access consciousness only through the gaps in our thinking – when we do this regularly, our thinking becomes more inspired because we are regularly reaching into the heart of the Universe. Here are a few ways other than meditation to access consciousness. For 5 minutes a day, practise one or more of the following:

  • Perceiving without thinking (in nature is best)
  • Window meditation – look through a window for 5 minutes and observe what you see without judgment.
  • Listen alertly to all sounds without judgment – you can do this while walking.

You cannot be really alert AND thinking!

Consciousness, Presence and the Now

You are the now, the I AM and the timeless consciousness because we are all part of the One. In our old state of consciousness we are never fully here, we are waiting for the next thing.

We are told in the Bible “Be still and know that I am God”. When Jesus said “the Kingdom of Heaven is within you” – he was referring to this still place of presence. He also said that in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven we must be like little children. Little children are present, simple and uncomplicated. They’re not doing to-do lists, and rushing around saying “I’ve got so much to do” and complicating their own lives. If we live from that consciousness of little children, all else will follow.

When we are connected to that still space within us, we can interact with the movie show we call life, but not get entangled in it. It then becomes more enjoyable and every place we are is ideal. Rest in stillness within while moving/doing – that is the art of living. The scenery is moving but you are not moving inside. That still place inside you is the retreat. You are the eye of the storm, the centre of the wheel.

When we are rooted in our being, we have an absence of fear which naturally creates FAITH AND TRUST. We trust in life (which is the antithesis of fear, worry and anxiety). We don’t need to trust another human being because we trust in the process of life.

Be still. Listen. Listen to what the Universe wants you to do.
